Author, Jillian Lauren Shriner, and wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a tense confrontation outside her Eagle Rock home earlier this month.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were assisting the California Highway Patrol in a hit-and-run investigation when they encountered Lauren in her yard on 8 April 2025. Officers say she was holding a handgun and, after repeated commands to drop the weapon, allegedly pointed it at them. In response, police opened fire, striking Lauren in the shoulder.
Lauren was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently booked on suspicion of attempted murder. She was later released on $1 million bail pending further investigation (WWBL, 2025).
A respected author and advocate, Lauren, 51, is known for her memoir Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, as well as her work in true crime, most notably Behold the Monster, which chronicles her relationship with serial killer Sam Little. She and Scott Shriner of Weezer have been married since 2005 and share two adopted sons.
Despite the gravity of the incident, Weezer continued with their scheduled Coachella performance days later. No member of the band made no mention of Lauren’s situation during the show.
Jillian Lauren is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on 30 April 2025. The district attorney’s office has yet to confirm whether formal charges will be filed, and the LAPD’s investigation remains ongoing.
