All the Stars are Closer for Kendrick Lamar indeed😍. In a significant move bridging the worlds of high fashion and hip-hop, Kendrick Lamar has been named Chanel's latest brand ambassador. The Compton-born rapper will front the French luxury house's upcoming eyewear campaign, set to launch this week. This partnership underscores Chanel's commitment to blending contemporary culture with its storied heritage.
Lamar's association with Chanel isn't entirely new. In 2023, he attended the Met Gala honoring Karl Lagerfeld, donning a custom quilted leather bomber designed by then-creative director Virginie Viard. Further cementing their collaboration, Lamar and his creative collective, pgLang, contributed to Chanel's January 2024 haute couture show by designing the set and producing a short film titled The Button .
Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel's President of Fashion, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, "We strongly believe in eyewear and its potential. More than a simple fashion accessory, eyewear is part of the Chanel allure and is regularly seen on the runway. Its versatile style, playing with the house codes, brings a finishing touch to the silhouette".
While specific financial details of Lamar's ambassadorial role remain undisclosed, such collaborations between luxury brands and high-profile artists typically involve substantial compensation, reflecting the mutual benefits of increased visibility and cultural relevance.
This alliance between Kendrick Lamar and Chanel exemplifies the evolving landscape of fashion, where boundaries between music, art, and style continue to blur, creating dynamic and influential partnerships.
