Tragic Killing of Tan DaGod at Glamour Beauty Supply in Oakland

Tan DaGod, whose real name is Alliauna Green, was a beloved local figure, celebrated for her vibrant personality and contributions to the community. The Oakland community is in mourning following her tragic killing. 

The incident occurred at Glamour Beauty Supply, on the corner of 40th and Telegraph Avenue. On Saturday, 13 June 2024, the 27-year-old rapper was there for a meet and greet event and to support the store's grand re-opening. After the shooting and despite the immediate response from emergency services, Tan DaGod succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

Social Media Speculations

In the wake of the tragedy, social media has been abuzz with speculation and grief. Many posts suggest that Tan DaGod's killing was retaliation for her alleged involvement in the killing of her ex-boyfriend in 2023. 

She was shot after releasing an EP entitled, Ex Wood Pack.  The EP contained a diss song, entitled, That's My Ex Pack which suggested she was responsible for her ex-boyfriend's demise for allegedly abusing her. Some based their speculations on an interview Tan DaGod gave to Off The Porch, a Dirty Gloved Bastard Production where she discussed the case.

Many pointed out that she was purposely killed during her meet and greet while promoting the EP. Attendees reported that Tan DaGod was targeted as a hooded gunman aimed a gun at her and began shooting. An innocent bystander was shot as well but expected to live.

Community Reaction

The news of Tan DaGod's death has left the Oakland community in shock. A candlelight vigil was held outside Glamour Beauty Supply, where friends, family, and supporters gathered to honor her memory and demand justice. Residents and local business owners have voiced their concerns about rising violence and the need for better protection. Many attendees expressed their sorrow and anger, calling for a thorough investigation. 

An employee of Lee's Donuts & Croissants  (next door to the beauty supply) worries about the impact the shooting will have on businesses in the strip mall and the surrounding ones. He issued the following statement, "I'm concerned about the safety of our customers. If they don’t feel safe they won’t come into the shop anymore and that’s bad for business as well, and this is a mom-and-pop shop." 

Police Investigation

The Oakland Police Department has launched an active investigation into the case and is following up on leads, including the possibility of retaliation for the 2023 incident. They have increased patrols in the area and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
