Los Angeles, CA — A grisly discovery in a Hollywood tow yard has thrust rising music star D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) into the spotlight for reasons far removed from his music. On 8 September 2025, workers at the facility reported a foul odor coming from a Tesla that had been impounded days earlier. When authorities opened the vehicle’s front trunk, they found a dismembered and decomposed body wrapped in a bag.
The Tesla, police later confirmed, was registered to the 20-year-old Houston-born singer, best known for his viral hits and recent debut album Withered.
Investigators described the victim as a woman about 5-foot-1 or 5-foot-2, with wavy black hair, wearing a tube top, black leggings, yellow stud earrings, and a yellow bracelet. One distinctive feature stood out: a “Shhh...” tattoo on her right index finger. The woman's age, race, or ethnicity could not be determined at this time.
Because of the condition of the remains, authorities have not yet confirmed her identity or official cause of death. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine both.

The Tesla had been towed from the Hollywood Hills, where it was left abandoned for several days. It was never reported stolen, leaving investigators puzzled as to how the victim ended up inside.
Tow yard workers noted the vehicle sat in the lot for two to five days before anyone noticed the odor strong enough to alert police.
While the gruesome discovery has shaken fans, D4vd has not been named a suspect. His representatives confirmed that he is fully cooperating with authorities and has been made aware of the ongoing investigation. His representatives also pointed out that D4vd has several cars registered to him, that are driven at various time, by different individuals.
Despite the controversy, the young singer has continued his “Withered” world tour, performing in Minneapolis shortly after the news broke. He is still scheduled to play in Los Angeles on 20 September 2025.
Authorities emphasized that this case is not connected to another recent discovery of a decomposed body found in a burned Honda Civic at a separate Los Angeles tow yard. Still, the proximity of the two incidents has raised public concern.
The homicide investigation now centers on how the Tesla, registered to a rising pop star, came to contain the remains of an unidentified woman. Key questions remain:
Who was the victim, and what was her relationship, if any, to D4vd?
How did the Tesla end up abandoned in the Hollywood Hills?
Who had access to the car in the days leading up to the discovery?
For now, police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the woman or shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death.
